Students from all nationalities can apply, and applicants can enter the programme with either a bachelor's or master's degree.\r\n\r\nOIST provides financial support throughout the PhD, including support toward tuition and living expenses. The programme is designed around interdisciplinary scientific research rather than traditional academic departments. Students begin their PhD with laboratory rotations before developing an individual research programme and completing their doctoral thesis under OIST faculty supervision. OIST accepts approximately 60 full-time graduate students each year.
