The European Media Art Platform Residencies

Programme details

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) Residencies 2027 supports artists working in digital, media, robotic and bio art through a production residency hosted by a European arts organisation. Co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, EMAP brings together artists and artistic collaborators to develop new work at the intersection of art, science and technology.

Applicants propose a creative project to the EMAP consortium and rank their preferred host organisations, rather than applying separately to individual centres. Its network spans institutions specialising in digital culture, experimental media, interdisciplinary research and technology-led artistic production. The selected host provides a setting in which the artist can experiment, develop ideas and complete a new work.

Collaboration is central to the programme. Artists may apply as duos or collectives, or propose a project involving a partner they have identified or hope to find locally with their host’s support. Collaborating artists do not have to be confirmed when the application is submitted.

Residents also share their practice through a professional presentation at the host institution. EMAP promotes completed projects across its wider network of members and international partners, creating possible routes into further exhibitions, festivals and group presentations. The residency is intended to encourage artistic exchange across disciplines and borders while supporting the creation and circulation of contemporary media art.
