NextGen@ICANN is a youth programme of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers designed to introduce university students to ICANN, Internet governance and the multistakeholder model that helps shape policies and decisions affecting the global Internet. The current NextGen@ICANN88 round will bring selected participants to the ICANN88 Community Forum in Lisbon, Portugal, from 13 to 18 March 2027.

Participants receive coaching, guidance and mentoring while learning about the Internet ecosystem, Internet governance and policy development at ICANN. Selected students are required to participate in courses and presentations beginning approximately six weeks before the ICANN meeting and are expected to deliver a 5–10 minute presentation during the meeting on relevant research, academic work, an Internet-related project or another topic connected to ICANN’s work.

Be enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student.
Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the ICANN88 meeting.
Be currently living and studying in ICANN's European region for the ICANN88 application round.
Have an interest in Internet governance, the future of the Internet, or other topics covered at ICANN meetings.
Be able to attend the ICANN88 Community Forum and all required NextGen@ICANN events if selected.
Be willing to actively participate during the ICANN meeting.
Be willing to prepare and deliver a 5–10 minute project presentation during the ICANN meeting.
Be available to participate in required courses and presentations beginning approximately six weeks before the ICANN Public Meeting.
Complete the online application in English.
Have an ICANN Account in order to access and submit the NextGen@ICANN application.
Applicants may apply more than once if unsuccessful, but an individual may participate in the NextGen@ICANN Program only once if selected.

Hotel accommodation for participation in the ICANN meeting.
A stipend provided by ICANN.
Coaching and guidance to help participants understand and engage with the ICANN ecosystem.
Support from experienced NextGen@ICANN mentors.
Participation in courses and presentations before the ICANN Public Meeting.
Opportunity to attend and actively participate in the ICANN88 Community Forum.
Opportunity to present a 5–10 minute project during the ICANN meeting.
Exposure to Internet governance, ICANN policy development and the multistakeholder model.
Opportunity to begin building long-term involvement in the international ICANN community.
